It's Shower Time!

Most birds just love to get wet and it's good for them too, especially in the cold weather months when our heating systems often keep the air inside our homes too dry. Humidity and moisture are essential for good skin and feather condition.

Although your bird may simply enjoy being misted, many of our members routinely take their birds into the shower for bathing. Just make sure the water temperature is cool to lukewarm (never hot) and give your bird(s) a safe place to perch. Initially your bird (s) may seem fearful or somewhat cautious of the water but you can try misting them a bit or cupping your hand with some water then sprinkling them with some indoor "rain". They'll typically catch on quickly and will come to enjoy their shower time.

Don't worry, your bird will not "catch cold" from being wet but avoid bathing if your bird is not in good health.
